The NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation) course is a training course designed to teach medical teams and other health professionals how to save the lives of infants who need resuscitation after birth. This course was developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) in coordination with the American Association and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
The course consists of a combination of interactive educational and training activities, including presentations and practical simulations. Participants are trained to assess the infant’s condition, determine the need for resuscitation, provide artificial ventilation and chest compressions, insert respiratory tubes, and perform other necessary resuscitation measures.
The course aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to deal with postpartum emergencies affecting newborn infants. These conditions include breathing difficulties, weak heartbeat, cardiopulmonary failure and other issues that require quick and effective resuscitation procedures.
